London

Yesterday we left London. We were in the capital of England for one day and a half. We arrived at 10 o'clock in the morning (English timetable). The hotel where we stayed was the most representative of the history of the city, The Ritz, but we couldn't stay in the hotel too much, because we had too many monuments to see.

First, we visited the famous Big Ben, which is near the Houses of Parliament. I liked it a lot, they made us a tour, and they explained us who worked  there and how the watchmakers got sure that the clock worked correctly. The Houses of Parliament were  also good but we couldn't visit them because they only open on Saturdays and Sundays in summer and it was Tuesday, so I liked it less than the Big Ben.Then, at half past 11, we visited Westminster Abbey, the sacristan showed us the entire Abbey, and told us some of its secrets. I liked it, but personally I still prefer the  Big Ben tour.

After that, at half past 12 (although nobody was hungry) we adapted to the British customs and we ate in a typical fish and chips restaurant, I didn´t like it too much but I ate. After the lunch, we took the line 159, which goes to Picadilly Circus, I loved this place, it was full of shops, statues, monuments....

It was 17 o'clock and there wasn't anyone on the streets because of the tea time, so we entered a café and ate some sweets with the tea. After that stop, we retook our way to St.Paul´s cathedral. This was, without question, my favourite monument of the visit, (although we had to "climb" 530 steps to see the best view of London that I have ever seen).

It was 19 o'clock and we had to have dinner, so we ate at the Rhodes twenty four, a restaurant  with an amazing view of the tower 42 (and also with an excellent steak). After a very long dinner (we finished at 23 o'clock) we took a bus and we went to the hotel and finished an awesome day in London.

The next morning we left the suitcases in the hotel and visited the last two places, the Tower Bridge and Covent Garden.

In the Tower Bridge, we had a guided visit in which the guide told us the main data about the bridge, for example that it was a suspended structure or that it was built by Horace Jones in 1894. It was good, but not so good as St.Paul´s Cathedral.

In Covent Garden we visited all types of shops, as we didn't want to go to the same shops we split up and we went wherever we wanted. I went to a videogame, a souvenir and a book shop. In the first one I saw various games, in the second  I bought some souvenirs and in the third I saw some books in its original version (mainly Harry Potter). I stopped to see some street performers. Finally at 19 o'clock we all were at the entrance of Covent Garden. After going to the Ritz for the last time to take our suitcases we took the 8 o'clock bus to Cambridge. I liked London a lot and if have to choose one picture that represents the travel, I choose this one...
